NPP to hold presidential primaries elections on November 4

All aspirants are barred from contesting in constituencies held an by NPP MP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that its presidential primaries elections is slated for the 4th of November, 2023.

This announcement comes off after a meeting was held between the National Executive council (NEC) and the National Council of the party on the 3rd of April 2023.

A consensus was reached that the next flagbearer of the party should be elected on November 4,2023 during the meeting.

Nominations will be opened from Friday, 26th May to Saturday, 24th June when it will be closed. All interested presidential aspirants are advised to pick up forms for nominations within this period.

According to the statement issued by the National Council of the NPP, a Special Electoral College election will be organized on 26th August, 2023, if the presidential aspirants exceed five persons in order to reduce the number to five.

The statement furthered that for constituencies which are not occupied by an NPP MP, the nominations will open from the 16th of June, 2023 to July 14, 2023, when it is scheduled to close.

Whereas the primaries elections for constituencies held by an NPP lawmaker is slated for 24th February, 2024.

In the statement which was sighted by 1Family Radio, all National, Regional, Constituency party executive and MMDCEs are forbidden from contesting in constituencies the incumbent lawmaker is an NPP.
