The New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker for Tolon, Habib Iddrisu, has said that there is no justification for the establishment of a committee to look into the recording that was leaked about the plot to remove the present Inspector General of Police.
He also acknowledged that the audio’s substance is extremely disheartening and endangers the nation’s security and tranquility.
“It’s very disappointing; you have a lot of questions to ask, and I appreciate that this thing happening in our country is totally unacceptable,’’ he noted.
But speaking in an interview on TV3, monitored by 1Family Radio, the MP said that the parliamentary investigation into the recording is unlikely to yield any findings when

According to him, this matter should be left in the competent hands of the agencies that are in charge and capable of handling such matters.
“If that committee is set up and Parliament finishes its work, then what? There are agencies that are equipped to handle this tape, not parliament.’’
“From where I sit, I don’t see where it is going; it is just the politics we are seeing. This committee the speaker has formed, I don’t see where it will go,’’ the Tolon MP projected.
“I don’t think Parliament was the right forum for this to be done. There is more to it than we have heard,’’ he added.
