The Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo-Dampare, has been sued by about eighty-two (82) police officers for delaying their promotion.

The aggrieved officers sued the Attorney General, the Ghana Police Service, and the IGP for failing to promote them after they had completed their studies through the study leave with pay policy of the service.

The legal document sighted by 1Family Radio indicated that several months after these officers completed their studies for the 2017/2018 academic year, the Ghana Police Service refused to promote them, although they qualified and had duly notified the service of their completion of their respective programs.

It was noted that these officers have not been promoted, notwithstanding the fact that other officers under similar circumstances have been promoted.

According to the document, the Ghana Police Service engaged in an ‘’unfair and unreasonable exercise of discretion. They continued that the service didn’t conform to their duty to be fair and honest.

They therefore prayed to the court to order the police service and the IGP to accelerate their promotions and also permit them to enter the police college without any further delay.
