The Accra High Court has disclosed that Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for North Tongu has not been served with any legal writ from the court.
Hon. Ablakwa on February 3,2023, kicked out some documents served to him by a bailiff from Rev. Victor Kusi, the secretary of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral. After this Rev. Kusi filed a charge of contempt against the lawmaker.
However, at hearing on February 21,2023, the court indicated that the records they have do not imply that the lawmaker has been served with any legal writ.
According to the motion of contempt filed by Rev. Kusi Boateng, the reasons the lawmaker gave for refusing the documents weren’t substantial adding that Ablakwa disrespected the court by sharing copies of the order on social media.
During the hearing, the court disclosed that the lawmaker had not been served neither has the court given orders for him to be served. The court presided by Charles Gyamfi Danquah indicated that the documents given to Ablakwa from social media cannot be considered as a legal writ from the court.
The judge noted that the document procured by Ablakwa’s learned counsel from social media or from the counsel of the petitioner cannot be taken as a service of the contempt procedures.
The court was adjourned until Ablakwa has been served properly.
