Theresa Ayoade, the co-founder and CEO of Charterhouse Ghana has narrated how financial constraints hindered her from climbing the academic ladder.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime monitored by 1Family Radio, Theresa noted that she had to work as a sales girl at Adabraka to support herself.

Narrating her story to Roselyn Feli, the businesswoman hinted that she travelled to the United Kingdom to pursue a degree in economics with the support of her parents. After some time, her father started facing financial difficulties and was unable to support her education in the UK. This truncated her education.

When she came back to Ghana, she called a friend and asked him to assist her find a job. The friend told her he has a shop at Adabraka where he sells lighting fittings but she be the sales girl if she wants. She agreed and became a sales girl at Adabraka.

Theresa stated that she got fed up because she aspired for something greater than just being a sales girl. Her initial dream was to become a banker but then she had to venture into media. She added that she later joined some renowned media houses in Ghana as the sales and marketing manager.

She indicated that being the only female in the sales team, she was promoted after two years to Luv FM and she  later joined Joy FM as the Promotions Manager.
