Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has alleged that the poll surveys being speculated about were sponsored by his other contenders.

According to him, his competitors, who are mostly projected to win the flagbearership race, could be the ones sponsoring these surveys.

Addressing a group of his supporters and the media after picking up his nomination forms, Dr. Akoto empathetically stated that he has never sponsored such a poll survey.

“I have never sponsored any poll; find out who is sponsoring those polls,’’ he told the media monitored by 1Family Radio.

He disclosed that if he were indeed behind these polls, he would have been tipped as the winner in the flagbearership contest.

“If I sponsor a poll, I bet you they will tip me the winner, but I won’t do such a thing because it won’t serve any purpose,’’ Akoto said.

The politician proceeded to say that he knows he has done all he has to do and therefore is not moved by the results of the polls being conducted.

“We know what we are doing on the ground, so all the polls in the world can say whatever they want, but we are talking about the 900 people who will be voting in the super delegates and the 210,00 delegates who will be voting on the 4th of November; that is what matters,’’ he added.
