Dr. Christopher Ampadu, a lecturer at the Pentecost University has asked politicians if they are really ready to die because of their use of violent commentary during campaigns.

According to him, politics is not all about attacking your contenders like some of these politicians think. He stated that politics is about sharing opinions without intimidating the next person.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM monitored by 1Family Radio, the lecturer noted that Ghanaian politics is gradually turning into provocations and intimidations by the use of words which incite violence and bloodshed.

“Politics is gradually turning into provocation and violent reactions. This is definitely not politics. Politics is all about democracy and sharing of ideas. You sell your message to the people while sharing your opinion. Politics is not about bloodshed, conflicts or fight,’’ he stated.

He continued that currently Ghanaian politics is very appalling because these politicians who attack each other have people who support and cheer them on thinking this is boldness and courage.

“Most politicians think that politics is all about attacking one’s contender or provoking one another. And the sad thing is that you will see people cheering them on to use violent words against each other, and they attribute this to boldness and braveness.’’

The lecturer continued that politicians should be mindful of the things they say because it has the potential to generating conflicts in the country.

“Politicians have no rights to use such violent words during their campaign because they can generate conflicts or pouring of blood in the Ghana. Those that are making those comments, are they ready to die?’’ he quizzed.

Dr. Ampadu urged politicians to stop making such comments because they have influence and impact on the youth of the country.
