The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has officially announced that all its offices nationwide will close down for a month beginning from March 20.

In a statement issued by the power distribution company sighted by 1Family Radio indicated that the company will embark on a Nationwide Revenue Mobilisation exercise, commencing 20th of March to 20th of April, 2023.

According to the statement, this revenue mobilisation exercise will focus on all categories of customers in arrears including State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), and will be monitored by special teams who will apprehend and prosecute customers who attempt to interfere with the exercise, and/or undertake illegal self-reconnection after disconnection.

The statement furthered that because of this exercise, the Head Office, Regional and District Offices of the ECG will be temporarily closed during the revenue mobilization period, except for Customer Service Centres to enable total participation by top Management and Staff.

“Management wishes to notify the general public that, recalcitrant customers who have refused to redeem their indebtedness to the company after they have been served with Final Demand Notice will be arraigned before the Court of Law,’’ the statement cautioned.

All customers in arrears were urged to pay their bills now to prevent disconnection and repayment of reconnection fees.
