After attending a funeral in Agou, in the Oti Region, 22 people were reportedly hospitalized after eating there.

Following their consumption of the meal provided to them on the funeral grounds on Saturday, May 13, 2023, these victims had acute diarrhea.

The news reaching us on Family Radio is that nine of these victims are currently receiving medical care at different hospitals, while thirteen of the injured are being admitted to the Nkwanta South Municipal Hospital.

After receiving meals that apparently included rice, banku, porridge, beef, and pito, the victims reportedly started complaining of stomach aches and diarrhea.

The Nkwanta Municipal Hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Theophilus Amoatey, had previously claimed that samples of the food provided at the burial had been sent to a lab for additional testing.

He claims that upon admittance, the patients complained of severe diarrhea and vomiting, but as of right now, everyone has been treated.

A team of disease control managers has been charged with conducting further investigations in the community.
