The father of Akwaboah Jr. and renowned highlife musician Kwadwo Akwaboah Sr. has passed away.
On May 15, 2023, the highlife singer passed away following a brief illness. According to reports, he had glaucoma, which caused him to lose sight in both of his eyes.
On May 16, 2023, legendary highlife artist Akwaboah Jr. posted on social media of his passing. He penned “RIP Daddy” in a tweet that 1Family Radio sighted.
He was noted for his popular song ‘Awerekyekyere’. He was a keyboard player as well as a guardian of Ghanaian highlife music.
Other highlife figures have also expressed their sympathies for Akwaboah Jr. on social media.
