Brigadier Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, a Ghanaian politician and a former Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces has raised concerns about the current state of the country.
According to him, the current state of the country’s economy and our leaders’ reluctance in resolving it might push the youth to rebel.
He claims that individuals are compelled to plan coups out of resentment at the system since no one plans a coup unless something forces them to.
The retired brigadier lamented the status of the economy and stated that the youth needed to take action since the NPP and NDC, the two primary dominant parties are the same.
Nunoo-Mensah emphasized that coups ruin nations, and Ghana is progressively approaching that. He was speaking in an interview on Class FM that 1Family Radio monitored.
Analyzing what causes coups, he stated: ‘’we don’t travel that with our eyes open widely. People like Rawlings were propelled to take that course by external forces. Someone will act irrationally, and you won’t be able to contain your rage because you can’t stand what’s occurring right now.’’
“I don’t want a coup at all; Ghana will be over when we get there, and we won’t be coming back. Look at Libya and Iraq; they vanished into oblivion and are gone forever. Sudan is headed in that direction; it is done. I do not want Ghana to move in that direction, but if we don’t exercise caution, we will. Although we are not willing to go there, rage will force us to do so,’’ he added.
“Rawlings believed he could change Ghana before he passed away, but he was unable to do so, and it is a terrible pain for an unknown reason. He questioned, “Do you have to kill or murder people before they listen to you?”
Ghana is a lovely country, but let’s build it. The youth must stand up, and all of our politicians should be guilty,” he said.
