Former President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama has chided the Finance Minister for his excessive taking of loans.

The former president empathetically stated that Ken Ofori-Atta and the NPP government benefit from the loans they take and that is why they keep on taking loans contrary to the promises they made to Ghanaians.

Addressing some delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asante Akim Constituency in the Ashanti Region which was monitored by 1Family Radio, the NDC flagbearer hopeful noted that due to the current hardships in the country, some delegates and supporters of the NPP are rooting for his comeback.

John Dramani Mahama continued that current government is a ‘family and friends’ organization that enriches themselves by taking loans on behalf of the country.

According to him, the Finance Minister keeps on begging for loans because on every loan he is able to secure, he gets some amount of commission to enrich his family and that of the president.

“They benefit from the loans they take on behalf of the country,’’ he told the delegates during his campaign.

He continued, “On every loan he takes, Ofori-Atta has a commission and that is why he like loans. Because of this he has refused to step down despite the call of his resignation by Ghanaians.’’
