Professor Kwabena Frimpong, the former Minister for Science and Technology has implicated the late Sir John in his latest report.

In the professor’s 36-page report entitled: Report on the IMCIM And The Way Forward, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John, was described as the greatest danger to the Ghanaian forestry.

The report which was sighted by 1Family Radio indicated that the former Forestry Commission CEO, Sir John gave out timber felling authorizations in forest reserves and he was also involved in illegal mining.

The report also explained Sir John’s failure to join the GalamStop platform, a software application adopted by the government in 2018 to facilitate its fight against illegal mining in the country.

According to the report, Sir John refused to join this platform because he was engaged in illegal mining activities using a gang from China.

“I was not surprised that the Forestry Commission did not move onto the GalamStop platform because their then boss was vigorously giving out timber concessions including forest reserves for logging,’’ the report revealed.

Mr. Frimpong continued, “Using Charles Owusu, the Director of Operations at the Forestry Commission, the late Sir John had a gang from China which was mining on his behalf.’’

The page 10 of the report indicated that during a meeting with the president, Professor Frimpong clearly told the president that Sir John was the greatest danger to the Forests in Ghana.
