The Secretariat of the School Feeding Program has pleaded with all the caterers in the Ashanti Region to back to rendering their services.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, some aggrieved caterers on the school feeding program in the Ashanti region withdrawn their services after they were snubbed by the Ashanti Regional Minister during their protestation at the forecourt of his office on Monday, 3rd April, 2023.

These caterers demanded that their arrears spanning nine months should be paid and also an increment in the food grant to GH¢3 from the current 97pesewas per head. After their demands weren’t met, they threatened not to cook until they have received their payments.

However, the secretariat of the program has requested them to continue cooking because they will receive payments very soon.

The Head of Communications at the Ghana School Feeding Program Secretariat, Alfa Siba has disclosed that all the arrears the government owes the caterers will be released after engagement with relevant stakeholders.

“We are engaging the relevant stakeholders and caterers to see how best we can resolve the issue,’’ he told the media monitored by 1Family Radio.

“just last week, we paid the second term of the 2022 academic year to all districts. So, we are appealing to the caterers to rescind their decision not to cook while we continue the engagements,’’ he stated.
