Prince Kofi Amoabeng, the former boss of the inoperative UT Bank has hinted that the Finance Minister is not to be blamed for the collapse of his bank.

The UT Bank was part of the banks that were closed down by the ruling government during the banking sector cleanup exercise six years ago. Many Ghanaians blamed Ken Ofori-Atta for leading this exercise which led to so many citizens losing their source of income.

However, speaking in an interview on GTV, Mr. Amoabeng refuted the claims that ken Ofori-Atta is responsible for the banking sector cleanup which collapsed his firm.

Mr. Amoabeng believes that Ghanaians are responsible for the cleanup exercise that led to the collapse of his institution. He indicated that Ghanaians voted for the NPP government and the cleanup exercise was a collaborative decision on the side of the government.

Considering his relationship with the finance minister, when his bank was collapsed people asked how could Ken Ofori-Atta do this to him but he told them that Ken was not responsible for it.

According to him, the Finance Minister was given the facts and he had to make a decision which he believes is in the best interest of Ghanaians. Therefore Ken Ofori-Atta who is like a brother to him cannot be held responsible for what happened to his bank.

The former boss of the UT Bank strongly believes that Ghanaian collapsed his bank and not the Finance Minister. He furthered that all Ghanaians including himself elected the government and the government decided to collapse his bank.

He noted however that he doesn’t hate Ghanaians because he is a Ghanaian himself.
