Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer position, has questioned the president on his satisfaction with some of the developments in the NPP and the nation at large.
He claims that the behavior of President Akuffo-Addo is the subject of numerous complaints and criticisms from the general populace.
Speaking in an interview on Peace FM with Kwami Sefa, monitored by 1Family Radio, the politician stated that Ghanaians are even frightened to constructively criticize the NPP government out of fear of the repercussions that they might face.
Mr. Kwabena continued that the NPP party is eventually becoming an anti-freedom of speech government. To buttress his allegation, he cited an instance where an executive of the party was expelled because he spoke against an MCE.
“It breaks my heart. Sometimes I want to inquire of Mr. President, whom I have known for a very long time, in his quiet moment, is he satisfied with some of these actions that have been taken,” he said.
“I occasionally ponder whether the president is content with certain developments in the nation. We cannot unnecessarily politicize our country at the expense of its further growth.’’
“This party was founded on ideals, beliefs, and values rather than on people. Since it is crucial for me to stand and speak, at least for future generations, if you are the president and don’t have people around you who can confront you and call you out, you are doomed. It doesn’t matter whether it affects my votes,” he added.
