Bismark Ato Foster, a former contestant on TV3’s music reality show ‘Mentor,” has been convicted of manslaughter. The accused was charged with murder and the use of an offensive weapon.

He has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of murder. Bismark was held responsible for the death of Razak Mohammed at Nungua Coco Beach on September 26, 2016.

The accused was initially implicated in second-degree murder, but he was later charged with manslaughter.

The court, which was presided over by Justice Mary Maame Ekua Yanzuh, sentenced the accused to life imprisonment after the jury reached a verdict of manslaughter and the use of an offensive weapon.

A snippet of the court ruling monitored by 1Family Radio indicated that for the use of an offensive weapon, Bismark must serve 25 years of imprisonment, with both punishments set to run concurrently.

However, his counsel pleaded with the court to tamper with justice with mercy considering the age of the defendant and that he was also a first-time offender. But the prosecution opposed it, stating that his offense was very serious and intentional.

The judge gave her ruling of life imprisonment after hearing both parties. Meanwhile, Bismark’s counsel has announced that they will file an appeal against the sentence.
