Mr. Abraham Amaliba, the Director of Legal Affairs of National Democratic Congress (NDC) has disclosed that the court has concurred to hear the injunction case against the party on Friday instead of the initial May 15.

An injunction case was filed to halt the presidential primaries of the NDC which was slated for May 13, by Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a flagbearer hopeful of the party due to some irregularities in the voters registers he believed can cause irreparable damages to his bright chance of winning the contest.

The date for the hearing was initially scheduled for May 15, 2023, by the court. However, in a recent interview with Joy FM monitored by 1Family Radio, Abraham revealed that the court has agreed to have the hearing of the case on Friday, May 12, 2023.

“We actually wanted Thursday, but the registrar informed us that it would be challenging due to some difficulties with the processes that would need to be scanned. And the judge who will be presiding over the case must have foreknowledge of the process, so the only convenient time is on Friday,’’ he explained.

He continued that if the party decided to postpone the primaries, it would have some repercussions on the party because a lot of effort and resources have gone into the preparation of the elections.

“The party has put so much money in this. Mind you, some delegates have started traveling to their centers. Those whose centers are located in island communities and have to travel by river for a day and then go and sleep over have already began moving, so if we are to postpone the election, you can only imagine the hardship and suffering the party is going to face,’’ he stated.
