Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the former Deputy Information Minister under the John Mahama administration has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) doesn’t need any counsel from the National Peace Council.

His comment follows the invitation by the National Peace Council to the two major political parties in the country to a roundtable discussion over the current indication of using violence in the 2024 general elections.

According to the former minister, there is no need to invite the NDC to such a meeting because they are not in power and they have not indicated that they will employ violence in the upcoming general elections.

“We have not said anything to indicate that we intend on undermining the peace and security of this country. The NDC is not even in government. It is the ruling party that has hinted that they are ready to use violence during the elections,’’ he stated on 3FM Midday News monitored by 1Family Radio.

He furthered that the Peace Council should rather call the NPP and advise them and not the NDC. “The National Peace Council should stop behaving like this. They should invite the NPP and criticize them. This is what is needed. The NDC has said or done nothing wrong.”

Kwakye continued that the Peace Council can also call Bryan Acheampong and condemn him for the statement he made.

“Bryan was the person who made the reckless statement so the Council can equally call him and condemn him for it. If they really have any advice, they should give it to the NPP and Bryan Acheampong.’’

“They shouldn’t pretend there was an exchange between the NPP and the NDC by roping us into this mess,’’ he said.
