I will get rid of ex-gratia given to the executives- Mahama 

I will restore independency to the judiciary

The former president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that executive arm of government will stop receiving the ex-gratia payment when he assumes power.

Speaking at the launch of his “Building The Ghana We Want” campaign on March 2, ,2023, monitored by 1Family Radio, the former president indicated that he will get rid of the ex-gratia which is given to the executives should he become the president in the 2024 general elections.

He indicated that he will take the needed constitutional steps to scrap the payment of ex-gratia and he will also convince the Members of Parliament to approve the removal of this entitlement.

John Dramani Mahama also promised to revived the trust Ghanaians had in state institutions by depoliticizing them. He also plans on dealing with the issues surrounding the exercise of powers of the president and ensuring that there is proper separation of powers.

The former president added that he will ensure that restore independence to the judiciary arm of government. He added that these will be the prime focus of his new administration.
