The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has called on the Members of Parliament and the entire nation to support the government to secure the $3 billion from the IMF.

According to him, with the help from the International Monetary Fund the country will overcome the current economic challenges sooner than later. He made this statement when he appeared before parliament on February,16,2023 to brief the house on the current state of affairs.

He therefore calls on the Members of Parliament to support the president to secure the board approval from the IMF.

The finance minister furthered that he had met on three different occasions with the pensioners and explained the terms of the new bonds to them. He continued that the government is interested in the wellbeing of these pensioners and he will honor their maturity principles.

Ofori-Atta noted that he had wrote a letter to the leader of the pensioners who have been picketing to protest against their inclusion in the DDEP to inform him that all pensioners who do want to participate are exempted from the bond offerings.

However, the former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo had earlier stated that the finance minister had refused to listen to the concerns of the pensioners.
