Honorable Inusah Fuseini, the former MP for the Tamale Central Constituency and a leading member of the New Democratic Congress has stated that it will be in the interest of the party if they allow the former president John Dramani Mahama to contest for the flagbearer of the party unopposed.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM monitored by 1Family Radio, the former lawmaker said that it will be a serious mistake if someone should contest against the former president for the flagbearership of the party. This is because, the former president is the only person who can unite the party.
According to him, the best thing the party can do now is to let someone who already has a record of achievements contest for the presidency and Mahama already has a record of achievements. He added that if someone else becomes the flagbearer of the party, the person will have to campaign base on the records of the former president. Therefore, they should allow Mahama campaign on his past achievements.
He furthered that Ghana needs someone who has served the country before and was capable of handling the economy very well. He stated that the economy has crashed under the NPP government and Mahama is the only person with the golden touch to change things for the better.
He concluded that Mahama might win the upcoming presidential elections if contest for the flagbearer unopposed.
