Ghanaian musician and radio presenter, Blakk Rasta has shared his two cents about the current legal tussle between Obrafour and Canadian rapper Drake.

Obrafour, a Ghanaian musician has filed a $10 million lawsuit against Drake for allegedly sampling his copyrighted song titled ‘Oye Ohene’ in one of his songs dubbed ‘Calling My Name’.

In reaction to this, Blakk Rasta has asserted that Ghana will be sold out if Americans should start claiming ownership of some songs in the country.

Speaking on his show which was monitored by 1Family Radio, Blakk Rasta revealed that the Ghanaian hiplife genre started by sampling some American songs.

“Did you know how hiplife as a music genre began? Hiplife was birthed from sampling, massive sampling. Most of our early hiplife songs including the ones by Reggie Rockstone were all sampled songs,’’ he noted.

“we will never be able to pay if American artistes and rappers wants to retaliate. Ruth Eye sampled Fresh, which artiste in the country hasn’t sampled before? How many of these artistes have paid money for sampling someone’s song.”

He continued that Ghana is now noted for Afrobeat and if these American Artistes want to sue us for sampling their song, we would have to sell Ghana to pay them.

“Now that Afrobeat has put Africa on the map, I am so terrified that if Americans want to reciprocate, we will have to sell Ghana and yet not be able to pay.
