Make sacrifices and be cost-effective – Mireku Duker tells mining sector firms

The Member of Parliament for the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency and the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, George Mireku Duker has charged the leaders of the mining sector firms to be economical in their dealings considering the current economic problems in the country.

He urged them to cut down the expense on allowances, the usage of fuel and the quantity of cars they use in order to save extra money for other usage. Mr. mireku stated that considering the economic challenges the country is facing, they must forfeit certain advantages and be more economical in their operations.

The lawmaker gave this advise during the lunching of a retreat for the mining sectors in Accra on January 26, 2023, monitored by 1Family radio.

Some mining firms present at the retreat are Minerals commission, Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation, Precious Minerals Marketing company and Ghana Survey Authority. Every Supervisor of agency is expected to make an action plan for this year and also a framework of how they intend to achieving the outlined action plan. 

One of the purposes of the retreat is to allow the supervisors to discuss matters, problems and some expectations of the mining sector. 

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources,Professor Peter Agbesinyale also advised the agencies present to work hand in hand with each other to build on the performance of last year and to achieve the aims of the Ministry.
