Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, the deputy Attorney General, has shared his two cents about the dismissal of the application filed by the lawmaker for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson.

Gyakye Quayson’s attorney, Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata, filed a motion to the Accra High Court requesting a halt to the daily hearings of his trial.

On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, the court, however, rejected the application submitted by Gyakye Quayson’s attorneys.

In reaction to this, the Deputy Attorney General has said that they feel vindicated by the court’s decision, reiterating that this is a court of law and not a political platform.

Speaking in an exclusive interview after the court ruling, monitored by 1Family Radio, Alfred stated that the court deals with law and not political sentiments.

“We feel vindicated; this is a court of law; it is not a court of political showmanship or razzmatazz; it is for us to speak law and talk law in court.’’

“We spoke in defense of the law, and we have been justified. The trial will resume on Friday, in which your witness will appear in court and the cross-examination will continue,’’ he said.

Addressing Tsikata’s choice to submit the stay of proceedings, he pointed out, “It’s within their rights to do so, but their filing doesn’t automatically stop the processes of the trial; if they file, we will answer in accordance.’’

We are in court to talk about law, not politics, Alfred said. “To us, we are dealing with law; we are not dealing with sentiments; we are not dealing with politics in court. Politics belongs to the political platforms, while law belongs to the court.
