The Executive Director of the African Center for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA), Dr. Rasheed Draman, has disclosed that the newly appointed minority leader in Parliament has not been fully accepted by the members of the minority caucus yet.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, and Kwame Agbodza were named early this year as the minority leader, deputy minority leader, and minority chief whip, respectively, by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Several months after their appointments, it has been revealed that they have a lot of work to do because they have not been fully approved by the minority caucus in parliament.
He made this assertion in reaction to a statement made by the majority leader, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, in parliament on June 6, 2023, that Ato Forson is a newly baptized minority leader, but he has not been confirmed yet as a leader.
“It looks like the ghost of the reshuffle in the Minority Bench is still haunting the caucus,’’ he stated in an interview on TV3, monitored by 1Family Radio.
“I’m not saying this; it’s been said by individuals like Muntaka and the former Minority Leader.” Today, as we follow the procedures in Parliament, the Majority Leader made a playful jibe at the Minority Leader, telling him, “You haven’t been confirmed yet.
“There is a lot of work that needs to be done for the leadership to endear themselves to the entire caucus since the new minority leadership has not been fully accepted by the rank and file of the minority caucus,’’ he added.
