Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed optimism about winning the primary elections of the NPP.

According to him, he is very familiar with the grassroots of the NPP party, especially the farmers, because of his former position as the Minister of Food and Agriculture.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with TV3, monitored by 1Family Radio, the former minister noted that the implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs policy under his administration has made him popular amongst the delegates who are farmers.

“My campaign is proceeding very well, and I am very confident that victory will be ours. We know the delegates, the limited number of people who are voting, and we are concentrating on them,’’ he said.

“We are focusing on the little and selling our message to them about the plans and objectives we have for the party and the transformation and reforms we intend on bringing. And so far, the message is going down extremely well,’’ Akoto noted.

“Favorably for me, most of the delegates who are farmers benefited from the Planting for Food and Jobs policy; therefore, I am very optimistic about my victory,’’ he added.

He, however, stated that he cannot rate how well the Planting for Food and Jobs policy has benefited the country.

“I cannot rate myself; a teacher cannot rate himself. It is the duty of the people,’’ the politician indicated.
