According to a prediction made by Ghanaian economist and Professor of Finance at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Godfred Bokpin, the country will most likely receive a bailout from the IMF by May 17, 2023.

His optimism was inspired by the Paris Club’s decision to approve Ghana’s IMF request during a meeting with the Creditor’s Committee, which was co-chaired by China.

The professor contends that Ghana’s achievement in obtaining the $3 billion IMF loan depends on the Paris Club’s acceptance.

Speaking on TV3’s News 360, which 1Family Radio monitored, Bokpin indicated that the final obstacle to our deal with the IMF had been overcome, indicating that Ghana might receive the loan at any time.

“Ghana has made a major advancement with this. Practically, the IMF has been waiting for that written statement by the Paris Club the entire time, he said.

“The specifics and all that will be worked out later, but this is enough for the IMF to consider Ghana’s program, and I believe that with this outstanding guarantee, probably by next week’s Wednesday or so, Ghana could get its program,’’ he added.
