Government reaches a 3-year $517 million agreement with the United Nations

The deal will grant Ghanaians access to some basic social services

The Government of Ghana has signed a 3-year US$517 million agreement with the United Nations.

This 3-year deal aims at facilitating the country’s economic resilience and transformation agenda.

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance signed the contract on behalf of the Ghana government. The deal was signed on Friday, April 28, 2023, in Accra.

A twitter post by the Ministy of Finance sighted by 1Family Radio indicated that the agreement will also help accelerate the attainment of the Sustainable Developments Goals.

“Government and the UN have signed the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-2025 to accelerate the attainment of SDGs and the support Ghana’s economic resilience and transformation agenda,’’ the tweet stated.

It continued that the 3-year deal will give Ghanaians access to some basic social services and also improve on the peace of the country.

“The 3-year US$517 million compact between Ghana and the UN will empower institutions and people towards an inclusive access to basic social services and durable peace and security in Ghana and across the sub-region,’’  the ministry wrote.
