Obrafour, a Ghanaian hiplife musician and rapper has filed a lawsuit against Drake, a Canadian rapper for an alleged copyright infringement.

Drake is being sued by Obrafour for sampling the remix of his song titled ‘Oye Ohene’ which Obrafour registered with the U.S Copyright office on the 6th of September, 2022 and owns full copyright of it.

According to the plaintiff, Obrafour whose birth name is Michael Elliot Kwabena Okeyere Darko, Drake willfully used vocal experts taken from his copyrighted work in his song ‘calling my name’ which is the infringed work.

In a court document which was sighted by 1Family Radio indicated that Drake went ahead to use the copyrighted work of Obrafour in his infringed work without the permission of the plaintiff.

‘’Drake released his infringing work on June 17, 2022 despite the fact that an agent of the defendant had previously contacted Obrafour seeking to obtain his permission to use the copyrighted work in the infringing work. Obrafour never granted the defendants permission to use the copyrighted work.’’

In the court document, Obrafour is demanding for $10 million from the defendant, Drake for copying and sampling his copyrighted work on his track without his permission.
