Insight is not the only skill needed to be qualified for a higher position in the football administration of the country, Nana Sarfo Oduro, the Executive member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has stated.

His comment comes after Black Stars former midfielder, Stephen Appiah stated that football is run by footballers and not big grammar.

“Legends and past players are not allowed to hold position in the football administration. But what I have realized is that football is run by footballers and not the big grammar or English people speak. It is all about insights,’’ he noted in an interview on Sompa FM.

However, Oduro has shared a different standpoint about the statement made by Stephen Appiah. According to him, all former players who are interested in holding top offices in the GFA should first get an education to buttress their experiences.

Speaking in an interview on Onua TV monitored by 1Family Radio, Sarfo stated that without education, one cannot really contribute to the progress of the association.

He cited great foreign football personalities who acquired higher education despite their experiences before they were given notable positions in the football administration.

According to him, the former captain of Cameroon, Samuel Eto’o furthered his education before he was given the presidency role of the Cameroon FA.

“Samuel Eto’o is the current FA president of the Cameroon. He contested for this position after he went to school to improve himself academically.’’

“Stephen should better himself academically if he wants to play a key role or even lead the GFA,’’ he concluded.
