The president of the Republic of Ghana, His excellency Nana Addo Dankw Akuffo-Addo has stated that it is high time Africa catered for itself.
He is of the view that currently, the International system is morally bankrupt and this is the time for Africa to take care of itself.
The president made this statement at an event which was dubbed “Towards Eliminating Rasicm and Discrimination Against People of African Descent’’ at the New York on March, 29, 2023.
“I echo the UN Secretary-General, the international system is morally bankrupt. Africa is noted throughout history for taking care of others but this is the time Africa has to care for itself,’’ he stated at the program monitored by 1Family Radio.
According to him, Africa is really suffering because the international financial system favors only the developed countries.
“The condition of the African economies shows scarcity in the global financial and trading arrangements defined to work against Africa and her people.’’
He furthered, ‘’the international financial system is morally bankrupt because it favors the developed and rich countries against the less developed.’’
President Akuffo-Addo indicated that every single African has a significant role to play in changing the narrative of Africa and her people.
“We all have a duty to contribute our quota in the changing of Africa’s narrative and affirming an African personality that is dignified, respected and treated with equality globally,’’ he concluded.
