Government to establish a Gold Souk in Ghana – Jinapor

The government will build a marketplace for gold artefacts

Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources has announced that the government plans on building a marketplace for the production and marketing of gold artefacts.

Speaking at a press conference monitored by 1Family Radio on February 28,2023, the minster disclosed that the government wants to establish a marketplace where gold artefacts could be manufactured and sold in the country.

According to him, the government is negotiating with South Africa’s Rand Refinery and also a mediator from the London Bullion Marketing Association (LBMA) to acquire a certification which will help in the export and marketing of refined gold on the international market.

He furthered that Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) through their jewellery subdivision has been able to manufacture gold tablets and also engrave jewellery which major support to their work.
