Daniel Krull, German’s Ambassador to Ghana has advised the government of Ghana to lower its expenditure whiles seeking for external help.
According to him, the government cannot seek for a bailout when it is not ready to cut down on the expenditures in the country.
Speaking at a press conference on February 24, 2023 which was monitored by 1Family Radio, the diplomat indicated that certain expenditures can be lowered without damaging the economic growth in the country.
“You cannot go to the international community and say I need help but I’m not willing to cut down my expenditure. It doesn’t work like that,” he noted.
The ambassador added that you cannot ask for help but you are not ready to lower the social expenditures that are crashing people’s lives and affecting the economy negatively.
He furthered that the president needs to reduce the size of his government if compared to Germany. Mr. Krull added that there are too much institutions and responsibilities all over the country which needs to be reduced.
