Francis Addai-Nimoh, a Ghanaian politician and a flagbearer-hopeful of the NPP has refuted the claims that big names help in winning elections.
Speaking in an interview on GhanaWeb TV monitored by 1Family Radio, the flagbearer-hopeful indicated that although most of his other contenders have bigger personality than him, that do not guarantee them a win in the upcoming primaries elections.
According to him, it takes personality and endearment to win an election and not necessarily a big name. He added that in order to win an election, you have to be appealing and captivate the electorates.
Mr. Addai-Nimoh indicated that the electorates have to accept you and believe that you are competent enough to be a leader and this will help you win the elections but not a big name.
Citing the 2014 presidential primaries elections as an example, the flagbearer-hopeful indicated that he was considered a loser because he was not known in the political environment of the country. This was because most of his other six contenders were either ministers of state or deputy ministers under the J. A Kufuor government and he has never been in such positions before.
However, he secured the third position which was an enviable position and this was because of the trust the delegates had in him. He furthered that the confidence the delegates have in him has motivated him to continue with his ambition to contest.
