Veteran hip-hop artist and social activist Kwame Asare Obeng, professionally known as A Plus, has rubbished advice given by President Akufo-Addo to the residents of the Assin North constituency.
Addressing some residents of the constituency on Sunday, June 25, 2023, the president contended that the constituency does not need someone who will be imprisoned but rather someone who can address the issues and difficulties that Assin North residents face.
“I’ve heard Quayson claim that you would vote for him even if he were in jail. Eii! What good is it to vote for someone who will be locked up? What benefit are we going to receive from that?’’ the president quizzed.
In response to the president’s remarks, A Plus has reminded residents of the developments and benefits they have gained as a result of the by-election that is currently taking place.
In light of this, he recommended that the electorate vote for Gyakye Quayson since, in the event that he is incarcerated, the by-election will be delayed and the residents will continue to receive incentives.
“Good evening, Assin North constituency, and I greet you all.” While some years are bad, others are also good. Take a look at the benefits you have gotten from the by-election. You have now been given cement, rice, and Astroturf. Even more so, I’m certain they’d build Korle Bu in Assin North if the election were to be put off until next year. You have been blessed, and I pray that there will be another by-election.
“I saw Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo yesterday. He came to Assin to campaign. I haven’t seen you in a while, but you’ve been nice, Daddy. He made a comment that gave me great joy. “Don’t vote for someone who will go to jail,” he advised. However, I must inform you that he is lying. Choose a candidate who will serve time in jail. After the election, will you receive anything? he questioned.
“The parliament will be brought to Assin North, I swear to God. Everything will be transported there. Development in Ghana is currently being brought about through by-elections. So disregard anything my father said. He is deceiving. Choose a candidate who will serve time in jail.’’
“You should vote for the candidate who they predict will go to prison. Please cast your ballot for Quayson. Given that he is imprisoned, there will be another by-election, and trust me, things will happen,” he noted in a viral Facebook video sighted by 1Family Radio.
‘’Even the Tema Port would be brought to Assin North. Boys in Assin North, use your brain to vote for the prison candidate in the upcoming by-election so that they can improve the area,’’ he said.
