Bayern Munich winger Alphonso Davies has disclosed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) failed to approach him in the academy because he wasn’t a big name by then.

Due to the fact that he was born in Ghana to Liberian parents, Alphonso Davies was eligible to represent the country, but he claims the GFA never reached out to him.

Speaking in an interview on the Say Less Podcast monitored by 1Family Radio, the Canadian footballer admitted that when the GFA contacted him, it was too late because he had already obtained his Canadian citizenship.

He said, “Ghana never sought me out, and my mother was against the idea of me playing for Ghana.

“I wasn’t a big name, even in the academy. When the news came out that I was going to Bayern, I got a message from the Ghana Federation.’’

“I think it was someone from the Federation who texted me on Instagram because he didn’t have my number or email, but it was too late. At that time, I already had my citizenship and had made it to Canada,’’ he said.
