Steve Hanke, a Professor of Applied Economics at Johns Hopkins University, has once again descended heavily on the government of Ghana for putting the economy of the country into a mess.

His reaction follows the release of the Hanke 2022 Annual Misery Index, in which Ghana secured a place on the index as the 15th most miserable country in the world.

The index, titled “Hanke’s Annual Miser Index 2022: The World’s fifteen Most Miserable Countries,’’ indicated that the misery index of the country is largely caused by inflation.

Prof. Steve Hanke, who is an ardent critic of the ruling government, attributed the current rate of inflation to President Akuffo-Addo.

In a Twitter post shared by the professor, it was noted that the current inflation rate in the country is 64%.

“In Ghana, the cedi is junk. By measure, inflation in Ghana stands at a terrible 64% per year,’’ he tweeted in the post sighted by 1Family Radio.

“Thanks to President Akufo-Addo’s incompetence and economic mismanagement, Ghana is the 15th most miserable country in the world in the Hanke 2022 Annual Misery Index,’’ he added.

In #Ghana, the #cedi is junk. By my measure, inflation in Ghana stands at a TERRIBLE 64%/yr. Thanks to Pres. Akufo-Addo’s INCOMPETENCE & ECONOMIC MISMANAGEMENT, Ghana is the 15TH-MOST MISERABLE COUNTRY in the world in the Hanke 2022 Annual Misery Index. pic.twitter.com/niamhUh3V3
