Prosper Harrison Addo, the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has stated that the association has not regretted appointing Otto Addo as the coach of the senior national team during the Qatar World Cup.
According to him, although the Black Stars weren’t able to impress Ghanaians with their performance at the World Cup, Otto Addo managed to qualify the team for the tournament.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, monitored by 1Family Radio, Prosper noted that, if not for anything at all, the former coach of the Black Stars should be applauded for guiding the team to the World Cup.
“He is the same coach who guided us to the World Cup.” Prosper continued that Otto discharged his duties as the former head coach of the Black Stars.
The secretary of the GFA continued that there is a difference between coaching a national team and a club team, but despite this, Otto did well with the senior national team.
“Mourinho has even stated in an interview that managing a national team differs from managing a club team. As a coach of a club team, you always have your players with you; however, this is not the case for the national team,’’ he stated.
“As a national team coach, you do your job in between the international windows, and no one can convince me Otto Addo didn’t do it. I don’t understand the term that Otto Addo was a part-time coach,’’ Prosper added.
