Emdee Tiamiyu, a popular Nigerian YouTuber, has rendered an apology to Nigerian students in the United Kingdom.

His apology follows an interview he granted on the BBC in which he alleged that most Nigerians apply for student visas in order to enjoy greener pastures in the UK.

“They need the degree as an access road to come into the country, so a lot of these people’s priorities shift real fast,’’ he noted.

After his interview went viral, he was lambasted by netizens, especially Nigerians, for ruining the chances of students who genuinely needed the UK visa to further their education.

In reaction to this, Emdee has eaten the humble pie and apologized to all Nigerians for the statement he made, clarifying that he said it with good intention.

He made this apology in a video he shared on his YouTube channel that was sighted by 1Family Radio.

According to him, he was only trying to speak about the challenges and difficulties of most Nigerian students.

“I am doing this without any script or anybody telling me what or how to say this. I am doing this from my reflections and the truthfulness of my heart for the interview feature. Please, I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you,’’ he stated.

“If what you have seen or what is being circulated has made you uncomfortable in any way at all, I want to say that I am deeply and sincerely sorry.’’

“And why do I say sorry? Because for whatever pain you feel, I feel even more, because if I meet you in person, if we are able to sit in the same space, touch you, and probably engage, there is nothing in my heart for you but love, progress, and positive support. People who know me and have met me once anywhere in the world know that this is what I have for you,’’ he said.

“There is no motivation for me granting an interview other than to highlight some of the challenges we genuinely face as a black community back at home and also in the UK and also give us the opportunity to share our frustrations with people who are closer to decision-making.’’

“I have never agreed to an interview that would make you feel less than yourself or put Nigeria to shame,’’ Emdee added.
