Ghanaian Afrobeat musician and rapper Elorm Adablah, alias E. L, has opened up about his delivery job in the United States.
Some time ago, when E. L. announced his intention to take on a delivery job in the US, many Ghanaians assumed that the musician was facing some financial issues, which is why he wants to become a food delivery guy.
However, in an interview with Sika Osei monitored by 1Family Radio, the celebrity clarified that he took on that job because he wanted to keep his mind occupied and not because he was financially broke or something of that sort. He also added that he loved his delivery job in the US.
“I loved it; look, it’s a different world out there. You know, perception is everything. People perceive food delivery as a ‘yawa’ thing. I know a bank manager in Philadelphia who still delivers food,’’ he noted.
He believes that earning additional money is one of life’s most significant goals, so you need to have several sources of income. He added that he occasionally made someone’s monthly income in a single day from his delivery work.
“It is a hustle, and the secret to wealth creation is to have as many hustles as you can… You are sometimes able to make somebody’s salary in a day. You can make $100 a day, so why will I let that go just because I want to flex? I feel like a celebrity. I have no problem with insufficient funds. My problem is keeping my brain occupied,’’ E.L. noted.
He continued that what he loved most about his job was that he was able to live as a normal human being because nobody recognized him as a celebrity.
“Not even once was I recognized, and that is what I loved about it. I am going to the store to pick up food. You have genuine human interactions. I can’t tell if any celebrity missed that, but I did.”
“I used to tell my old management, “Look at what you have done to me; I can’t even go to the mall’. So for me to just be, walk in my slippers, and move around, it was just a nice familiar feeling to me,’’ he added.
