Former President John Dramani Mahama has emerged as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the just-ended primary election of the party.
The former president garnered 297,603 of the total votes cast. The votes he was able to secure were equivalent to 98.9% of the valid votes.
His competitor, Kojo Bonsu, only managed to secure 3,181 votes, representing 1.1% of the votes cast.
Reacting to this, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the special aid to the newly elected flagbearer of the NDC, stated that the votes accumulated by Mahama were the decision of the masses.
In a Twitter post by Joyce, sighted by 1Family Radio, she expressed her profound gratitude to all the delegates who voted in favor of the former president.
“We were waiting for the final result, but we have exceeded our expectations! So far, 98% for His Excellency Dramani Mahama!’’ she wrote.
“The masses have spoken out, and loudly! Thank you to the delegates! Our supporters and our volunteers,’’ Joyce noted
