Mikel Arteta may have left Thomas Partey off his starting lineup for the last two games, but the Arsenal midfielder understands the move after recently referring to Jorginho, a fellow midfielder, as ‘’the best player at training.’’
Thomas Partey, who hadn’t started a league game since February this year, performed at the top of his game against his former side Chelsea before winning the game against Newcastle.
The Ghana International had played a significant role in the Gunners squad’s unexpected bid for the Premier League Championship this year.
Even though Partey might stay on the sidelines when Brighton visits on Sunday, He has stated that he is extremely happy for Jorginho adding that he is open to competitions.
“For me, it is something that always happens. I have always had competition, which is good for me. I enjoy it,” Partey stated in an interview with the Evening Standard monitored by 1Family Radio.
“I am really happy for him (Jorginho) because for a couple of weeks, he was the best at training and then at the end, you see that in the game. I am really happy for him,’’ he added.
“I am really delighted for him, and I’m also glad that every player is prepared to compete, so nobody can get any rest. It’s a good thing in my opinion, and I hope that everyone in that position will be prepared to step up when the opportunity arises.’’
He continued that the decision to sideline him is in the best interest of the team because it will push him to better his game.
“The goal of the club is to foster competition, which aids in the club’s expansion and also drives us to give our best effort during games.’’
“I consider it good. The ideal approach to accomplish your goals is whenever there is healthy competition and no issues. Because everyone is willing to give their best effort, this is simple,’’ Partey noted.
