Ghanaian politician and the current National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has empathetically state that the party’s presidential primary elections will not be postponed as suggested by Dr. Duffuor.
Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a flagbearer hopeful of the NDC has filed an injunction application to stop the party’s presidential primaries because of some irregularities he observed in the voters register.
However, the chairman who is also known as General Mosquito, the primaries which is slated for May 13, 2023, will not be rescheduled.
The polls are also in compliance with the constitution, unless the party decides otherwise for its internal elections, Asiedu said in an interview with okay FM monitored by 1Family Radio.
“Whatever we do, there are measures that we follow,” he added. And thus far, in all the processes and policies we’ve put in place, we haven’t made any mistakes or broken any laws,’’ he noted.
Reacting to the allegations that some candidates weren’t given access to the delegate list is not true because every candidate was given a delegate list upon vetting.
“I’ve heard complains from folks who claim they were denied access to delegate list, however after the vetting we provided everyone a delegate list, so they all have one. Thus, it is untrue for anyone to claim that they do not have a list of delegates,’’ he added.
He continued that the presidential primaries will take place on the day scheduled despite the issues that have been raised about it.
“People have brought up concerns over the NDC’s presidential and parliamentary primaries, and I had to address them. However, I want to start by assuring everyone in Ghana, including the NDC members, that the polls will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023. All candidates should be ready for the elections as there are now no restrictions on them.’’
“Nobody can claim that we should postpone the polls because he hasn’t received the rules for the photo album we’re making, which isn’t even included in the guidelines. Even though there is no basis for your statements, you are free to make them; we will simply listen,’’ Asiedu Nketiah noted.
