Otiko Afisa Djaba, the former Minister of Gender and Children Affairs has chided the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what she terms as their indifference towards the cry and sufferings of Ghanaians.
Her comment was in reaction to the plea by the School Feeding Program caterers in some regions of the country for the payment of their salaries and the increment in the money granted to children on the program.
According to the former minister, she is highly disappointed in the NPP party and the government as a whole because of their apathy to the outcry of Ghanaians.
Speaking in an interview on GTV monitored by 1Family Radio, Otiko expressed her anger and her sorrow in the government.
“I am very angry with my government that no prompt action has been taken to curb the problems of the caterers,’’ she said.
She stated that it is high time the government sit up and deliver on his promises because Ghanaians are gradually losing their trust in him.
“About 1 million people voted for you therefore you must do the right thing for them. It is no longer about politics, this is about the development of Ghanaians. Meet with them and explain things to explain things to them and I am very sure that they will understand because they are humans. We are in serious times and serious decisions need to be taken,’’ the politician stated.
“Food prices are like that globally, it is not only in Ghana but why at all are you a leader? You were appointed as a leader to solve the problems of the country.’’
“I want to see my government which I believe so much in sit up. It is not about breaking the 8, it’s about solving the problems of the Ghanaian people,’’ she noted.
The politician however indicated that her reaction is not birthed from personal resentments but she just wants Ghanaians to trust the NPP party again.
“I have nothing to be peeved about because I have so much confident in my party, akyia, emmu y3. It’s high time we got serious and understand that it is a privilege to be in such position because you will never get it again. The president was given the privilege to lead Ghana to the promised land out of 3 million people in the country.’’
“Let’s die trying, let’s ignite once again the fire we had during the campaign and let Ghanaians understand that we are committed to the development of this country. Cancel out the apathy. It is true that there are issues but which life hasn’t gotten issues before?’’
“it is our time to do the right things and we must die getting it right and this is the root of my anger. I want all well-meaning Ghanaians to get irked. We are not humiliating the government.’’
“Ghanaians are waiting for the government to put things in place and we must do everything we can. Let’s think outside the box and get it right. Ghana deserves it, you and I deserve it,’’ she concluded.
