Professor Stephen Adei, the Former Director General and the Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has stated that the current process of voting is influenced by money and lies.

According to him, Ghanaians deserve the type of political leadership they have because they created them.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 monitored by 1Family Radio, Prof. Adei stated that politicians over the years have learnt how to manipulate the electorates because of their corrupted nature.

Explaining further, he noted that currently our mode of electing a leader is based heavily on money and bribery. “I can confidently say that as a country, our process of selecting a leader is greatly influenced by money, propaganda and deception,’’ he stated.

He asserted that initially, we elect leaders based on their capabilities and competency but now they are selected based on what they can offer in monetary form.

This made him quizzed what really the problem is, “the big question now is did the leaders create the people or we are just getting the leaders we deserve as a country?’’

Professor disclosed that whatever is happening in our political system is a mutual relationship between the leaders and the electorates.

“This is a correlative relationship.  We are getting such corrupted leaders because the average Ghanaian is corrupt and therefore, these smart politicians learn quickly how to manipulate them and the political system to serve their personal interest,’’ Mr. Adei said.
