Alex Kofi Donkor, the founder and current director of the LGBTQI+ Rights Ghana has elaborated on the need for the country to respect people who express different sexuality.

He is of the opinion that the members of the LGBTQI+ community are humans and by virtue of this reason, Ghanaians and African at large must desist from stigmatizing them.

Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM monitored by 1Family Radio, Alex noted that the people who express different sexuality are just normal human beings like everyone therefore it is highly unrecommendable to liken the LGBTQI+ community to animals.

According to him, it is very strange when Ghanaians compare the LGBTQI+ community to animals because the arguments that animals do not even mate with the same sex is baseless.

“It is weird when Ghanaians compare us to animals. How can you say that animals are not gay because they do not mate with the same sex? Are they part of the animal world? How many case study have you conducted to prove this unsubstantial conclusions? He quizzed.

He cautioned, “nobody should compare us to animals because we are not animals. We have our constitutional rights just like any other person and we deserve to be treated right.
