Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, a Ghanaian socialite also known as Afia Schwarzenegger has been fined an amount of GH¢ 60,000 by the Tema High Court during the sitting of her contempt case on January 31,2023.
Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi filed a law suit against Afia Schwarzenegger and other people for defamation of Character. These people include Nana Ama Mcbrown, Kwame Asare and Emmanuel Barnes. They were each fined GH¢60,00 which they have already made payments for.
Afia Schwarzenegger was accused of contempt and she was supposed to serve a ten- day imprisonment, however she was not present on the day of ruling which was on December 1,2022. Afia showed up on December 20,2022 with her lawyer who moved a motion on notice for variation of sentence. Mr. Amaning, Afia’s lawyer stated that she has repented and has apologized to the court.
The court stated that since Afia has rendered apology for her behaviour, she should be given another chance.
Afia has been fined GH¢60,00 by the Tema High Court which was chaired by Justice Emmanuel Ankamah on January 31, 2023. She also signed a bond of good behaviour three years. In addition to this, she must not make any comment on the case on any social media platform until the bond is over.
She was warned by the court that if she violates any of these orders, she will be dragged back to court again.
