How Ghanaians are reacting to Cecilia Dapaah’s $1 million theft

Following an alleged robbery at the home of Cecilia Dapaah, the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, social media has been ablaze with controversy.   

According to report, her two housemaids, Patience Botwe, 18 and Sarah Agyei, 30, allegedly stole this money from the minister’s bedroom at her residence in Abelemkpe. The theft took place between July and October 2022.

The housemaids are accused of stealing personal items from Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah including a variety of garments costing GH95,000 as well as handbags, perfumes, and jewelry worth US$95,000 from her. The theft amounted to US$1 million and £300,000 cash.

Many Ghanaians, particularly politicians and celebrities, have been perplexed by this news; some of them are unable to understand why she would leave such a large sum of money in her room.
