Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew has claimed that he never felt driven by his family to pursue a career in sports.

He asserts that despite coming from a football-playing family, he chose to play football on the basis of his own instincts.

Speaking in an interview on GTV Sports, monitored by 1Family Radio, Jordan narrated that he wasn’t really into football growing up, but everything changed for him when he began training at the age of 10.

“I wasn’t all that interested in the game when I first started playing. I didn’t like to train all that much; I was just interested in playing with my neighborhood pals.

At the age of 10 to 12, I gradually began attending training, and that is when everything began,” Jordan recalled.

The Ghanaian forward added that he considers it a huge honor to be an Ayew family member. Although his fate was already predestined by God, he said, being born into a family of football players provided him with some advantages in the world of sports.

“I’m fortunate to be a member of the Ayew family. They have never forced us to play football, but it only makes sense to give yourself a shot when you come from a family of sportsmen.’’

“Aside from that, your destiny is your destiny. We are fortunate and quite proud of what God has written for us,” he added.
